Abstract

In modern times, the ritual of Sūrah is not limited to any one area but has spread to all the provinces of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Arab countries. This ritual is called "Sūrah" in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, "Wanī" in Punjab, "Irjā'ī" in Baluchistan, "Sang Chattī" in Sindh, and "Bad" in Afghanistan. This article introduces the ritual of Sūrah (Wanī), its legal status, and the evils and vices that arise in society from it.
