Contemporary Culture, Muslim Woman and Society: Enlightenment in the light of Islamic Legal Thought

Women have a great significance in human legal Culture. An in-depth study has been done regarding the significance of women in Islamic culture and how the development of status women takes place in Islamic legal thought. This topic is very much debatable that were the women stands in the history till now in this modern world. The status given to the women was not good in the human history. The present study defines how Islamic legal system raised position of the women in the society. Islam has given much importance to the women in social sphere considering equal status as human and not making difference on the basis of gender. This study provides the Islamic legal thought regarding position of women in the society and clarifies the confusions in this regard. For this, analytical and descriptive studies have been which concluded that women are giving their rights in the Islamic thought and Shariah. The religious institutions, human rights organizations and the government of the country should make policies in accordance with the progressive development in legislation with respect to the women for a better sustainable society.
